Tear trough filler
in Whitley Bay.
Tear trough filler is a small amount of hyaluronic acid filler placed under the eye, in the hollow that runs from the inner corner of the eye down onto the cheek. It may help soften a shadowed, tired look when that hollow is the cause. It costs £375 at Refined Medical Aesthetics, our nurse led clinic on Double Row, Seaton Delaval, near Whitley Bay, NE25 0PP. I always assess you first, and filler under the eyes is not right for everyone.
Nurse led clinic. Careful, documented treatment.
Tear trough filler at a glance
- Who it may suit
- Adults with a hollow groove under the eyes that casts a shadow, with reasonably firm skin and little puffiness.
- Who it may not suit
- Puffy bags, fluid that comes and goes, swelling on the upper cheek, very thin or crepey skin, or dark colour in the skin itself. Filler can make puffiness look worse.
- What happens
- I check your eyes, skin and health first. If it suits you, I place a small amount of filler deep, close to the bone, usually with a fine blunt cannula through one point on the cheek. The visit takes 45 minutes.
- Downtime
- Swelling and bruising can happen. Under eye swelling can come and go for 2 to 3 weeks and is often more noticeable in the morning.
- Price
- £375. Pay in full online, where Klarna may be available at checkout, or pay a 30% deposit of £112.50 and the rest in clinic.
Results vary from person to person.

Small amounts,
placed carefully.
The tear trough is the groove where the lower eyelid meets the cheek. As we age, the fat and bone support here can thin, so the groove deepens and catches shadow. That can make you look tired even when you are not.
I use a soft hyaluronic acid filler and place very small amounts deep, close to the bone, so it supports the hollow without sitting under the thin surface skin. I usually use a fine blunt tipped cannula through a single point on the cheek, after numbing cream. I would always rather do too little and review than do too much.
What it can,
and cannot, do.
Tear trough filler may soften a hollow and the shadow it casts. It will not remove puffy bags, fluid, dark colour in the skin or fine crepey lines, and in some people it can make puffiness look worse. Sometimes supporting the cheek below gives a better result than treating the hollow directly.
At your appointment I look at what is causing your under eye concern before anything is planned. If another treatment would suit you better, or you do not need anything, I will tell you. Results are not permanent and vary from person to person.
Not every tired eye
needs filler.
Under eye polynucleotides (£185 a session) may help thin, crepey skin quality around the eyes. Derma Eye (£80 a session) may help puffiness from fluid and tired looking skin. Cheek filler can sometimes support the area from below. We can talk through each of these at your assessment.
Assessed first.
Planned for you.
The under eye is
a delicate area.
The skin under the eyes is thin and the area has important blood vessels, so tear trough filler needs a careful, conservative approach. Bruising, swelling and lumps can happen, and filler too close to the surface can show as a bluish tint. Very rarely, filler can affect blood flow. I keep emergency medication, including the enzyme that dissolves hyaluronic acid filler, in clinic, and you can call me straight away if anything worries you.
