Frequently asked
Good questions.
The stuff clients ask me before their first visit. Safety. Aftercare. Money. Parking. Age. Can’t find your answer? WhatsApp me. I reply within a day.
Refined Medical Aesthetics is on Double Row in Seaton Delaval. About 10 minutes from Whitley Bay, Tynemouth and Cramlington. I’m Rachel. NMC-registered nurse with NHS experience. I do every treatment myself.
Booking & consultation
Before your first visit.
Do I need a consultation first?
Yes. Every new client starts with a free consultation. 20 to 30 minutes. We talk through what you want to change. I check your medical history. I’ll tell you what works for your face and what won’t. You don’t have to book anything on the day.
How do I book?
Use the online booking link at the top of the site. It shows live slots. Or WhatsApp me on +44 7583 321 635. Good if you’re not sure which treatment you need.
Can I book evening or Saturday appointments?
Yes. Open Monday to Friday, 09:00 to 19:00. Saturday 09:00 to 17:00. I keep most Saturdays for new clients and consultations. Later slots can sometimes be arranged. Just message me.
How far in advance should I book?
Anti-wrinkle and lip top-ups often fit in the same week. New consultations and bigger filler jobs usually want 1 to 2 weeks. Got a wedding or holiday? Book 6 to 8 weeks ahead. That gives time for a review and small tweaks.
Safety & credentials
Who’s doing my treatment.
Are you medically qualified?
Yes. I’m an NMC-registered nurse. Pin available on request. Several years on NHS paediatric wards before I moved into aesthetics. Every prescription treatment, including anti-wrinkle toxin, is under my medical responsibility.
What products do you use?
Only regulated, CE-marked, prescription-grade products from licensed UK pharmacies. Anti-wrinkle: licensed botulinum toxin Type A (prescription only). Fillers: Juvederm Vycross range and selected Teoxane RHA. Skin boosters: Profhilo. Polynucleotides: Plinest/Newest. I tell you the exact product on the day. In person.
Is it safe? What if there’s a complication?
Injectable treatments carry small risks. Bruising. Swelling. Tenderness. Very rarely, vascular issues with filler. This is why a medically trained nurse matters. I carry hyaluronidase on site to reverse filler. I’m trained in complication management. Full medical indemnity. Worried after a treatment? WhatsApp me. I’ll see you quickly.
Will you say no if it’s not right for me?
Yes. Often. Honest no’s are a big part of what I do. If a treatment doesn’t suit your face, your skin or your stage of life, I’ll tell you. Same if you’ve had too much done elsewhere. You can always add. You can’t always undo.
Treatments & results
What to expect in the chair.
Does it hurt?
Most clients call anti-wrinkle and skin boosters a quick sting. Lip and cheek filler use topical numbing. The product also has lidocaine in it. So discomfort is usually mild. I take my time. You’re not rushed.
How long until I see results?
Filler: plumps right away. Final shape shows at 2 weeks once swelling settles. Anti-wrinkle: kicks in at 3 to 5 days. Full effect at 14 days. Skin boosters and polynucleotides: gradual over 4 to 8 weeks. Microneedling: glow in days. Collagen builds over 3 months.
How long do results last?
Anti-wrinkle: 3 to 4 months. Sometimes longer with repeat treatment. Lip filler: 6 to 12 months. Cheek, chin or jaw filler: 12 to 18 months. Profhilo: 6 months from the second session. Polynucleotides: 6 to 9 months. Results vary. Your metabolism, lifestyle and skincare all matter.
What if I don’t like the result?
Every anti-wrinkle result gets reviewed at 14 days. Small tweaks at that review are on the house. All hyaluronic acid filler can be dissolved with hyaluronidase if you ever need it gone. The goal is a result you love. I’d rather start small and add later.
Will people be able to tell I’ve had something done?
The Refined look is deliberately subtle. Clients describe it as “I look like me on a good day.” If you want a heavy, obvious result. I’m honestly not the right nurse for you. I’ll tell you that in your consultation.
Aftercare & downtime
After your appointment.
Is there much downtime?
Most treatments have very little downtime. Anti-wrinkle: carry on as normal. Lip filler: some swelling for 24 to 72 hours. Microneedling: redness for 24 to 48 hours. Skin boosters: small bumps that settle overnight. You get written aftercare notes and my WhatsApp after every visit.
Can I wear makeup afterwards?
Not the same day for most. Anti-wrinkle: no makeup over the injection sites for 4 to 6 hours. Filler and skin boosters: wait 24 hours. Microneedling: 24 to 48 hours. Mineral SPF from day one is fine. In fact I encourage it.
When can I exercise, drink alcohol, or fly?
Skip hard exercise, saunas and alcohol for 24 to 48 hours after any injectable. They make swelling and bruising worse. Short-haul flights are usually fine after 24 hours. For long-haul. Wait 2 to 3 days.
Payment & logistics
The practical stuff.
How much do treatments cost?
All prices on the pricing page. No hidden fees. Anti-wrinkle from £150 (one area), £180 (two), £210 (three). Lip filler from £150 (0.5ml), £190 (1ml). Cheek filler from £220 per ml. Skin boosters from £110 (Seventy Hyal) to £220 (Profhilo). Polynucleotides from £185 (under-eye). Microneedling from £80. Medical-grade facials from £30 (LED) to £55 (luxury). Treatment packages are listed too.
Can I pay in instalments?
Klarna Pay in 3 works on the WBco homecare shop. In clinic, pay by card (debit or credit), Apple Pay or Google Pay. No finance on treatments. I’d rather you space them out than feel pushed.
Where are you based and is there parking?
Double Row, Seaton Delaval, NE25 0PP. Free on-street parking right outside. 10 minutes from Whitley Bay. 15 from Tynemouth and Cramlington. 25 from Newcastle city centre. On the Metro? Whitley Bay station, then a short taxi.
How young is too young?
Adults 25 and up for anti-wrinkle toxin. Sometimes earlier if clinically needed (e.g. bruxism). 21 and up for lip filler. Age alone is never enough. Suitability, maturity and expectations matter more. No aesthetic treatment for under-18s. Full stop.
Can I come with pregnancy or breastfeeding?
No toxin, filler, skin boosters, polynucleotides or fat-dissolving while pregnant or breastfeeding. Some skin treatments and facials may be fine. Message me with your specifics.
Do you treat men?
Yes. About a quarter of my regulars are men. Mostly for frown lines, jaw definition and skin boosters. Same approach. Consultation first. Natural-looking result.
