Frequently asked
Good questions.
Everything clients tend to ask before their first visit — treatments, safety, aftercare, payment, parking, age suitability. If you can’t find what you’re looking for here, WhatsApp Rachel directly and she’ll answer within a day.
Refined Medical Aesthetics is a nurse-led clinic on Double Row in Seaton Delaval, about 10 minutes from Whitley Bay, Tynemouth and Cramlington. Every treatment is delivered by Nurse Rachel, an NMC-registered nurse with NHS experience.
Booking & consultation
Before your first visit.
Do I need a consultation first?
Yes — every new client starts with a complimentary consultation. It’s typically 20–30 minutes and it’s how we get your treatment plan right the first time. We talk through what you’d like to change, check your medical history, and Rachel will explain what will (and won’t) work for your face. You’re under no obligation to book anything on the day.
How do I book?
The easiest way is the online booking link at the top of the site — it shows live availability. You can also WhatsApp Rachel on +44 7583 321 635 if you’d rather have a conversation first, especially if you’re unsure which treatment is right.
Can I book evening or Saturday appointments?
Yes. We’re open Monday to Friday 09:00–19:00 and Saturday 09:00–17:00. Saturdays are usually held back for new clients and consultations. Later slots are sometimes available on request — message Rachel.
How far in advance should I book?
Anti-wrinkle and lip top-ups can often be booked within the same week. New-client consultations and larger filler appointments usually need 1–2 weeks’ notice. Before big events (weddings, holidays) book 6–8 weeks ahead so there’s time for a review and any small tweaks.
Safety & credentials
Who’s doing my treatment.
Are you medically qualified?
Rachel is an NMC-registered nurse (NMC pin available on request) with several years of NHS paediatric experience before moving into aesthetics full-time. All prescription treatments — including anti-wrinkle toxin — are prescribed and delivered under her full medical responsibility.
What products do you use?
We only use regulated, CE-marked, prescription-grade products sourced from licensed UK pharmacies. Anti-wrinkle: licensed botulinum toxin Type A (prescription-only medicine). Fillers: the Juvederm Vycross range and selected Teoxane RHA lines. Skin boosters: Profhilo. Polynucleotides: Plinest/Newest. We’ll always tell you in person at your appointment exactly which product is being used in your treatment.
Is it safe? What if there’s a complication?
Injectable treatments carry small risks (bruising, swelling, tenderness, very rarely vascular complications with filler). Being treated by a medically trained nurse matters here — Rachel carries hyaluronidase on site for filler reversal and is trained in complication management. Full medical indemnity is held. Any concern after treatment: message the WhatsApp and you’ll be seen quickly.
Will you say no if it’s not right for me?
Yes — and often. A large part of the Refined approach is honest no’s. If a treatment won’t suit your anatomy, skin type or stage of life, or if you’ve had too much elsewhere, Rachel will tell you. You can always add — you can’t always undo.
Treatments & results
What to expect in the chair.
Does it hurt?
Most people describe anti-wrinkle and skin boosters as a quick sting. Lip and cheek filler uses topical numbing and the product itself contains lidocaine, so discomfort is usually mild. We take our time — you’re never rushed.
How long until I see results?
Filler: immediate plumping, with final shape visible after 2 weeks once swelling settles. Anti-wrinkle: kicks in at 3–5 days, full effect at 14 days. Skin boosters & polynucleotides: gradual improvement over 4–8 weeks. Microneedling: glow within days, collagen remodelling over 3 months.
How long do results last?
Anti-wrinkle: typically 3–4 months, sometimes longer with repeat treatment. Lip filler: 6–12 months. Cheek/chin/jaw filler: 12–18 months. Profhilo: 6 months from the second session. Polynucleotides: 6–9 months. Results vary with metabolism, lifestyle and skincare.
What if I don’t like the result?
Anti-wrinkle results are reviewed at 14 days and any small tweaks at that review are included in the original fee. All hyaluronic acid filler is reversible using hyaluronidase if you ever need it dissolved. The goal is always a result you’re happy with — we’d rather start conservative and add.
Will people be able to tell I’ve had something done?
The house style at Refined is deliberately subtle. Clients describe it as “I look like me on a good day.” If you want an obvious, heavily augmented look, we’re honestly not the clinic for you — and Rachel will tell you that in your consultation.
Aftercare & downtime
After your appointment.
Is there much downtime?
Most treatments have minimal downtime. Anti-wrinkle: carry on with your day. Lip filler: some swelling for 24–72 hours. Microneedling: redness for 24–48 hours. Skin boosters: small bumps that settle overnight. You’re given written aftercare notes and Rachel’s WhatsApp after every treatment.
Can I wear makeup afterwards?
Not on the same day for most treatments. Anti-wrinkle: no makeup over the injection sites for 4–6 hours. Filler and skin boosters: wait 24 hours. Microneedling: 24–48 hours. Mineral SPF from day 1 is fine and encouraged.
When can I exercise, drink alcohol, or fly?
Avoid intense exercise, saunas and alcohol for 24–48 hours after injectable treatments — these can worsen swelling and bruising. Short-haul flights are usually fine after 24 hours; long-haul we suggest waiting 2–3 days.
Payment & logistics
The practical stuff.
How much do treatments cost?
Full prices for every treatment are on the pricing page — no hidden fees. Anti-wrinkle from £150 (one area), £180 (two), £210 (three). Lip filler from £150 (0.5ml), £190 (1ml). Cheek filler from £220 per ml. Skin boosters from £110 (Seventy Hyal) to £220 (Profhilo). Polynucleotides from £185 (under-eye). Microneedling from £80. Medical-grade facials from £30 (LED) to £55 (luxury). Treatment packages are also published.
Can I pay in instalments?
Klarna Pay in 3 is available on the WBco homecare shop. Treatment payments in clinic are by card (debit or credit), Apple Pay or Google Pay. We don’t currently offer finance on treatments — we’d rather you space them out than feel pushed.
Where are you based and is there parking?
We’re at Double Row, Seaton Delaval, NE25 0PP. Free on-street parking directly outside the clinic. 10 minutes from Whitley Bay, 15 from Tynemouth and Cramlington, 25 from Newcastle city centre. Metro users: nearest station is Whitley Bay, then a short taxi.
How young is too young?
We treat adults 25+ for anti-wrinkle toxin (sometimes earlier if clinically indicated, e.g. bruxism), and 21+ for lip filler. Age alone is never enough reason to treat — suitability, maturity and expectations always matter more. We don’t treat under-18s for any aesthetic treatment, full stop.
Can I come with pregnancy or breastfeeding?
We don’t carry out toxin, filler, skin boosters, polynucleotides or fat-dissolving on anyone pregnant or breastfeeding. Some skin treatments and facials may be suitable — message Rachel with your specifics.
Do you treat men?
Yes. Around a quarter of regulars are men — most commonly for frown lines, jaw definition and skin boosters. The approach is exactly the same: consultation first, natural-looking result.
