The approach, plainly

Why “medical-grade” actually means.

A medical-grade facial is different from a high-street facial in three ways: the products are professional-strength (active ingredients at concentrations you can’t buy at home), the treatment is delivered by a clinically-trained practitioner, and the protocol is tailored to your skin’s specific needs that day rather than a one-size routine.

At Refined, every facial starts with skin analysis. I look at your hydration, oil balance, sensitivity, pigmentation, congestion, recent treatments. The protocol is built from there. Two clients booking the same “LED facial” on the same day will often end up with different active serums, different exfoliation depths, different LED frequencies.

LED therapy uses specific wavelengths of light to reach different skin layers. Red light (around 630nm) calms inflammation and supports collagen. Blue light (415nm) targets acne-causing bacteria. Most sessions blend frequencies based on what your skin needs.

Dermaplaning is precise removal of dead skin cells and vellus hair (peach fuzz) with a sterile blade. Skin glows immediately because light reflects off cleared skin instead of being absorbed by surface debris. Excellent before a special event.

Chemical peels and BioRePeel use medical-grade acids to dissolve the upper layer of dead cells. The skin underneath looks brighter, smoother, more even-toned. BioRePeel specifically combines TCA with amino acids and vitamins for a no-downtime result.

Suitability

Who this is for.

Facials suit you if you:

I’ll postpone or modify if you:

On the day

From door to glow.

Cleanse, double-cleanse if you’ve got makeup on. Skin analysis under proper lighting. We agree the protocol — today might be deeper exfoliation than usual, or quieter if your skin is sensitised.

The treatment itself is a sequence of cleanse, exfoliate, mask, serum, LED, moisturise, SPF. For the 30-minute LED facial, we focus on cleanse + LED + serum. For the 60-minute luxury, we add deeper exfoliation, a custom mask, and a longer LED session.

You leave feeling clean, brighter, often with the glow lasting 7-10 days. Most clients book monthly as a maintenance ritual — aligned with your skin’s natural 28-day renewal cycle.

Common questions

Good to know.

Are your facials medical-grade?
Yes — every facial uses active, professional-strength products at concentrations you can’t buy at home, and the protocol is tailored to your skin’s actual needs that day rather than a one-size routine.
How often should I have one?
Monthly is the sweet spot — aligned with your skin’s natural 28-day renewal cycle. Some clients come every 6 weeks; some weekly if they’re prepping for an event. We’ll talk through the right cadence at consultation.
What’s the difference between LED and Luxury facial?
The LED facial is 30 minutes — cleanse, light exfoliation, serum, LED, moisturise. Good for maintenance and brightening. The Luxury facial is 60 minutes — deeper exfoliation, custom mask, longer LED, more serums. Better if you want a bigger reset.
What’s dermaplaning?
Precise removal of dead skin cells and vellus hair (peach fuzz) with a sterile blade. Skin glows immediately. Excellent before a special event — makeup sits beautifully afterwards.
Will dermaplaning make my hair grow back thicker?
No — that’s a myth. Vellus hair grows back at the same fineness and colour. The illusion comes from blunt-cut ends temporarily; they soften back to normal.
Do chemical peels hurt?
You’ll feel a tingling or warming sensation while the peel is on. It’s manageable. The depth of peel determines the intensity — we agree the right depth for your skin at consultation.
What’s BioRePeel and how is it different?
BioRePeel is a no-downtime medical peel that combines TCA with amino acids and vitamins. Your skin doesn’t flake or peel visibly, but the treatment still resurfaces and brightens. Great if you want results without obvious peeling.
Can I combine facials with injectables?
Yes — with proper sequencing. Facial first, injectable two weeks later. Or injectable first, facial 14 days later. We don’t do facial massage or active treatments in the 14-day window after filler or anti-wrinkle.
Can I combine with microneedling?
Yes — a gentle facial the week before microneedling preps the skin beautifully. We don’t do facials, peels or active treatments in the 14 days after microneedling.
What if I’m pregnant?
Most facials are fine in pregnancy — LED, gentle dermaplaning, basic cleansing protocols. Chemical peels we’d typically skip. Mention pregnancy at booking so we can adjust the products we use.
